The airport is not served by Melbourne's public transport system (except for some very indirect and infrequent local buses). If you take the Skybus, once you get off walk two (full) blocks south along Spencer St to Bourke St and catch the 96 tram from there. The Collins Street tram is 112, not 12; it doesn't go beyond Fitzroy St in St Kilda. The trams stop running at around midnight. Current fare is $3.20.

it is about 15 miles or there abouts to Tullamarine Airport from Sk. Kilda. The travel time varies greatly though as you need to travel through some of the busier roads in Melbourne to get there.

From Melbourne to St.Kilda it takes roughly 1-1.30hours. There the speed limit is 100km to 120km per hour on highways.

I would suggest about 20kilometres. The trip time varies depending on the traffic and as to whether it is peak travel time or not.
