The rear two speakers of the computer will not work. I noticed this the other day (yes, they did work at one point). I know the speakers themselves work because I hooked them up to the front speaker spot and got sound out of them. The computer has SoundMAX.

Does anyone have any idea how to get the sound to come back, or is there something wrong with the subwoofer?

Any ideas are appreciated.

I do not know when the stopped working, and to my knowledge there has been no added downloades (besides some graphics) added to the computer.

Does anyone have any idea how to get the sound to come back? Could there be something wrong with the subwoofer unit? I do get a static sound coming out of the rear speakers (it's the same as the front ones when I have no music on).

Any ideas are appreciated.

If the sound problems occur intermittently, there could be a interrupt conflict problem. Uninstall the audio and sound drivers and restart the computer. The computer will automatically reinstall the required drivers and the problem will be resolved. You might try clicking on the icon to activate the sound setup program for your sound card. It's possible that the setup for the speakers has gone from 5.1 to 2.1 and that's why the rear speakers aren't producing sound. Good luck.

Have you tried the "obvious" things? Shut down the computer and re-connect all the connections (plugs etc.)

When di they stop working? Was some new software installed that could be interfering?
