I've heard people contend that tickling through clothes is more effective, as the cloth helps to stimulate the skin, while others hold that tickling the bare skin is the most agonizing and effective method. I'll be tickled pink to hear opinions!

If you are tickling through nylons or silk, it can enhance the tickling sensations.
Personally, I love to tickle and be tickled on bare skin. If you want to heighten the ticklish sensations, add a liberal coating of baby oil (or some other light, smooth body oil) and it is much better than silk or nylons!

Both have their own attractions. I'd suggest that it might vary according to the comfort level of the recipient, which can work either way.
