I was going to apply there, I went there for a program. And they held a very good 2 hour speech about the college essay. Here's the tips they told me:
Try not to do an essay, they enjoy videos and CDS.
Be honest, fun, NO SOB STORIES.
They're really trying to get to know you, so be sure to explain "why" to everything.
As for the question... I myself was going to write about my neighborhood. Since I live in a ghetto, I was going to say I'd walk around and see it since I'm not allowed to (my parents are protective). I'd see the true beauty of things, not a mansion but laughing kids on an unwatered front lawn. I'd take along a friend of mine that hasn't really seen her neighborhood too. And we'd probably try to talk to the kids.
I liked it cause I made something simple seem enchanting, different. So since i'm not using it... lol all for you.
