Considerably more than it would cost to feed 10,000 starving children and thier entire families until thier bellies were full and thier appetites sated.

This is every Americans business, who do you think ultimately pays for stuff like this ?

It's likely to cost many millions of dollars when you consider that the cost includes not only the ceremony, but also the costs of security and a paid day off for many Federal employees, as well as employees in private sector industries that will close (i.e., financial markets). It would probably be very difficult to determine an exact amount.

It may seem like quite a lot of money to spend for honoring a former president (particularly if the president in question is one you didn't support), but this practice was initially started as a gesture of respect for the office, not for the individual.

That being said, I never supported Ford politically, but I greatly admire his role in holding together the Constitutionally-defined leadership of this country, at a time when the United States could have easily fallen apart. His assumption of the presidency is a good example of a time when U.S. politics were MUCH less polarizing, and the parties were able to work together.

Why is it so important for you to know this? I doubt when you die anyone will dare ask one of your family members how much it cost for your funeral. It's no one's business.

Wow, and just think what you could use that money for? It really is not any of your business, The Nation want to honor its President, and so it should.

What does it matter? He was our nation's commander in chief and he deserves respect!
