There's a few ways to handle it:
Tell her VERY GENTLY that her hygiene is lacking...that others have noticed, that you don't want to hurt her but feel she needs to know.
Leave a note (not hand-written) in her locker anonymously....from "someone who cares".
Ask HER Mom, YOUR Mom, a teacher, or better yet, a GYM teacher to discuss it with her.
You are a good friend for not wanting to hurt her, and for recognizing that she needs to know.
Bless you both!

Her feeling maybe a little hurt because she is embarrassed but she should know that a real friend would tell you these things. You could even ask if maybe it is something medical as to why she sweats so much or just smells of sweat. If that doesn't work just do what I had to do after a friend wouldn't take my advice. I sprayed her with perfume and body sprays every time she came around. She would get mad but after that she no longer would smell. I told her if she wouldn't do anything about it I would. I had to drive her home from work everyday. Good Luck!!!!!

This may not be what you think. Might be caused by showering infrequently, or not washing clothes often enough. Maybe she has problems at home that you don't know about - often girls are afraid to go take a shower or be too clean if there is a sexual predator in their house. Lack of personal hygiene in young girls is considered an indicator for sexual abuse in their lives.
If she just isn't using deodorant, maybe her mother never taught her about that. Maybe you need to tell her about it and why everyone needs it - if they are sitting in class for six hours, they need to have fresh breath AND no sweaty smell.
Regardless of how you broach the subject, your friend is going to feel hurt and may not want to talk to you for a while.

Try Secret powder fresh, solid or gel. It works so well that I have suggested it to a man friend and he says that it works great. (he's not gay, just sweats alot).
Oil of Olay soap. I saw it in a dermatologist office. Works for sensitive skin too.
I told him about how much I just can't stand sweat or to sweat and that this brand is the best tested around. Even by Consumer Reports. Say to her that sometime you (using yourself to talk about) just decide to wash, shower twice a day, Just to freshen up.
I'm sure that others have told her. Maybe she just doesn't know what to do about it.

Talk to her privately, and make sure you tell her that you are not trying to embarrass her. Also, tell her to get some anti-perspirant. Deodorant is only some "smell good", where anti-perspirant actually blocks the sweat glands and keeps her from sweating.....thus stinking. Hopefully she won't get upset, but I'm sure she'll appreciate it in the long run. Best of luck to you.

Tell her that there are rumors going around that she has BO and she should really do something to change it. My sister was the same way and her co-workers got together and gave her a basket of soap, toothbrushes, etc. She laughed and said thanks. It took a good smack upside her head for her to understand that they weren't being nice. Either that or just tell her - Look you stink and I don't think your deodorant is working. Try this brand instead. Be honest - if she gets upset or thinks you are joking - then maybe you should ask for your seat to be changed.

Just tell her as nicely as possible that her body odor is noticeable and she may want to start wearing deodorant. A real friend wouldn't want you to be embarrassed.
