stuff you like...stuff that inspires you. something silly or happy...not too ridiculous...not too serious either, since people will call you a poser and any other name they can think of, and there's enough serious stuff without everyone getting another load of it..
don't write about boys, or anything mushy. we've got plenty of stuff like that. Don't write about a crush you've got. People won't take you seriously if you do that.
what makes you smile? make it something you'd want to share with people. what makes you happy to be alive? what are your favorite things? sometimes simplicity is the best way to go about songwriting. Friends? Family? A sunny afternoon? Whatever inspires you.
whatever you do just make sure it's your own, original piece of work. not some cliche, typical pop song lyrics. it'll take time, and although it looks easier to just rip off of some popular band, refrain from doing so. you'll be alot happier with what you make in the end.
Good luck!

Hi there Cutie....let me give you advice since I am a sionger and musician.
When you write a song, it can be about anything you want it to be. Don't worry about the music right now that comes later.
Get a piece of paper and start wtriting down anything that made you happy a picnic or a Birthday party for whom ever...for example.....Sitting accross the room a candle lit burning a cake that fires in icing and the boy that couldn't wait
He ask me out one two times too many I thought was good
and now he has another friend that came out from the woods on the other side of town
She 's to blame
He's the same I figured so
She's too blame....ect...ect
We all have a music insight in us all. Thninak about a beat or a tune that gets you going. Snap your fingers and start popping your lips and then tyrme your words and make a up a hip hop rap or whatever, but sooner or later your gonna feel it and then your song will bloom. You can go back later and edit the lyrics and use anything from nature to sky to encroah upon your lyrics to give them meaning.

Lyrics take a long time for me to write. First come up with your melody, then take it line by line. The music and lyrics need to mean something special to you too. It makes it easier to write if they do.
