Be patient, it took a long time to gain the weight.
It will take you an equally long time to lose it.
Loosing weight slowly is much better because you are making a life style change, that will remain with you the rest of your life.
It's great, you've reached your saturation point & are taking a stand to be healthy.
I would exercise 3-5 times a week with cardio & stretching routine. It's best to join a gym or have a work-out buddy. If you can afford it, get a personal trainer.
I would cut out all white stuff (sugar, rice & starch) eat healthy nutritious foods (organic if you can) & stay well hydrated @ least 8 glasses of water daily, more when you're working out.
I hope you make all the good changes for yourself because you will be extending your life. :)

I don't know how old you are but 2 years ago I tipped the scales at 245. I like you am 5' 7". Fast weight loss is difficult to keep off. I suggest that you concentrate on a healthy eating plan that you can live with and move. Do anything to get up and get moving. It helps if its fun. listen to music while you walk. Don't forget to add some weight training it builds muscle, burns fat and helps build bone. I lost by eating foods I like in smaller portions and walking. I have never really counted calories. I just watch the scale. Right now I am looking for a new way to firm up, at 50 it ain't easy. Never give up even when you slip. Good luck.

I've been where you are (was 5'6" and 132) but realize you didn't put it on overnight, it's not going away overnight.

Cut your calories to around 1500 a day, no junk food, no fried, no sweets, no booze (no empty calories), drink lots of water and eat lean meats and fresh fruits/veggies, and complex carbs...

Exercise regularly, shoot for 5 days a week...start with 30 mins a day and work up to at least 1 hour...if you can make 2 hrs a day (an hour morning and evening) that would be great...do some cardio and some toning exercises...walking is good as well as rollerblading and bicycling (all low impact)...

I did it and was SO glad I did...got down to 135...if I can do it, anyone can...Good Luck!

reduce calorie intake and increase activity
drink 8 8 oz glasses of water each day, can be tough at first but this will help detox your body as you loss weight and help control appetite,
Eat lots of veggies and some fruits
Low fat dairy products
Lean sources of Protein with each meal
I enjoy the trampoline, it is low in pact on the body but has the same results as running or jumping rope.
jump on it every other day to start and work your way up to two 30 minute sessions every day, this will get you metabolism jump started and you will see your body shed the fat and gain lean muscle mass in its place. I also enjoy hitting a double end ball and a heavy bag if you can get a hold of one. Walking is also good to do on your off days just to get your heart rate up for at least 20 min.

i recommend not to use the scale as a gage of progress but rather a tape measure used once a week, if you feel you must weigh in only do it once a month. I also use the way my cloths fit as a gage as well. Blessings as you begin this journey and the best of luck to you as you get fit.

I have a list of creditials as long as my arm in antomy and physiology. Let me tell you, and I mean this as politely as possible, if your mind set is to loose weight as fast as possible you're setting yourself up to fail. If you loose fat too fast you can harm yourself and you are very likely to yo-yo (gain it back). Honestly, hire a personal trainer, at least for one to two consultations, ask if their certification is equal to ACE, if not, ask another one until you find one.

In the mean time, consult your doctor for any medical considerations, cut out junk foods (chips, bars, candy, McD's, etc). Keep healthy snacks on you all the time, drink PLENTY of water, you will loose "weight" more quickly if your body can function properly. By plenty I mean minimum 2L a day. Then start exercising, if you're not already active, start with low impact, swimming, walking - 30 minutes a day and work up a light sweat.

I hate to put a plug in here, but the weight watches program is a easy guide to eating that's accessible to most everyone.

Over half the world can not tell the difference between being thirsty and being hungry. If you think you're hungry, drink a glass of water, if in 15 minutes, you're still hungry, then eat.

Good luck.

Fast is not the way. A loss of 2 to 3 lbs a week is better. Get active, walk, and eat sensiably. Don't go on a diet because diets end. Start a new way of eating. If you have some skinny friends watch how and what they eat and copy that. A skinny person will eat a few cites of something and say "That was good I'll have to eat that again someday." and we chubby one's will say "That was good! I'll have another piece!"

Chewing each morsel of ur food at least 32 times before taking another one. In other words slow down the speed of ur eating and take plenty of light exercises plus brisk walks. Why be in a hurry to loose something which u have gained over years. Allow at least same number of months to go for shedding.
