but I hear some places "double dip" into the same wax with the same applicator. doesn't this spread infections, diseases, etc in the wax or on the person who is gettting waxed? also others use the same wax to wax a face as a bikini? is this normal? any experiences you have would help!

Waxing hurts. I've only had my eyebrows done by a friend, who owns a spa. My friend used a different applicator but the same wax. She did want to practice Brazilian waxing but I declined. Waxes are used continuously but the wax is @ a very high temperature, thus preventing anything to survive in this medium.
I did find this site, it would be good for you to check it out.

Burn: a patient of mine presented to me with serious second degree burns on the labia following Brazilian waxing
Spread of infection: physicians in the field worry that hair removal and the consequent tiny nicks, cuts and inflammation can expose a person to bacterial, fungal and viral infections. Sexually transmitted infections (HIV, HPV, herpes, and molluscum) are easily spread in this way.

Talk to the shop you plan to use. Find out how their wax is used. It should matter if they use face and bikini from the same wax, as long as they don't double dip...

Waxing hurts! Don't wax! Don't trust that this wax has been used before. Just stay at home and shave.

I was watching the Tyra Banks show or Oprah idk which... but isn't Tyra trying to be the next Oprah anyways?........ so there was a germ specialist on the show and they said YES it is possible to get STD's and other illness from waxing.....

SO just make sure you go to a reputable spa... and you will be fine
