It exists. The way I explain it to people is: Think of which hand people write with. The majority uses their right hand (straight), a small percentage uses their left (gay), and every once in a while you find someone ambidextrous (bisexual).

Why not? Not everyone falls into a black-and-white scenario. Why support such ignorant thinking? Of course there are people who are genuinely bisexual, omnisexual, pansexual, zoosexual, etc. If you're born homosexual, then you're gay for the rest of your life. That's that. If you're born heterosexual, then you're hetero for the rest of your life. There's no choice involved. You couldn't just CHOOSE whom/what you like. Same thing with bisexuals... they didn't choose to like males and females. That is just how they are. However, INSIDE their sexuality, they are allowed to choose if they want to do a guy tonight, a girl tomorrow, etc. They just have more options. Hell, I'm omnisexual, and I KNOW that I didn't choose to be this way. I was born to like everything under the sun. However, I just get more choices of partners (a wider spectrum) inside my sexuality just like how heteros are born hetero, but a hetero girl gets to choose WHICH guy (what type, age, etc.) they want to be with.

this article explains the most current thinking on the topic from multiple researchers in human sexuality. i'd trust this over people's opinions, personally:
"Straight, Gay or Lying? Bisexuality Revisited"
http://www.columbia.edu/cu/news/clips/2005/07/05/StraightGayNYTIMES.pdf
Another study revealed the following (abstract):
There has long been controversy about whether bisexual men are substantially sexually aroused by both sexes. We investigated genital and self-reported sexual arousal to male and female sexual stimuli in 30 heterosexual, 33 bisexual, and 38 homosexual men. In general, bisexual men did not have strong genital arousal to both male and female sexual stimuli. Rather, most bisexual men appeared homosexual with respect to genital arousal, although some appeared heterosexual. In contrast, their subjective sexual arousal did conform to a bisexual pattern. Male bisexuality appears primarily to represent a style of interpreting or reporting sexual arousal rather than a distinct pattern of genital sexual arousal.
