Thanks anzil, but I know what harmonics are and that's not what I meant, I bet you havent heard the tone I'm talkin about, like I mentioned it's something you can hear on some of oasis' songs, personally I haven't heard it anywhere else but I'm pretty sure there should be plenty of bands that have used it as well

It's called harmonics. you don't need an effects pedal. strike a high E and cut it off, but not comepletely, enough to create an echo.
