Actually I have 5 resolutions; I intend for follow them all to a T.

1. Sprint 5K (3.2 miles) every day including Saturday and Sunday at 5:30AM when I wake up.
2. Enroll in a muscle building program that produces 15-25% more muscle than what I have now.
3. Eliminate all sources of artificial, refined sugars like high-fructose corn syrup and sucrose, and only eat natural sugars like fructose in fruit and lactose in milk.
4. Eliminate all fast-food and foods that contain excessive amounts of saturated and trans fat.
5. Maintain a GPA of 4.0 throughout Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters of this year, averaging 13 credits per semester, primarily composed of Computer Science 2000-level courses.

Do you think I have set the bar high enough? I think I may very well turn off my social and recreational life in the process...
I am 6'5" and weigh 190lbs.

One question on #4, I am estimating that I will be ingesting 4500-5000 calories per day...will I find it difficult to find that much without having these fatty foods available?

I think I might just start a blog page on this...not my myspace one bc I think that one is for entertainment only...read this page periodically...

Good to have resolutions, but if you want my opinion:

1. 3.2 miles each day will undoubetdly cause you injury after a few days.

2. How do you measure 15-25% more muscle?

3. Very hard to stick to

4. This is the only one that sounds reasonable

5. 4.0 with 13 credits that are composed mostly of Computer Science courses at any level is so impossible it is hillarious. Take it from someone who knows. Mix up the classes with electives or different subjects.

6. Why turn off your social and recreational life? Are you depressed?

If you set your expectations too high, you are bound to fail and blame yourself. But you would not be to blame b/c nobody can meet such standards.

Would you like to see a proposed revision of those resolutions? Here goes:

1. Exercise at least 5-6 times per week in the mornings.
2. Lift weights/include a weight-training video every other day in order to build muscle
3. Cut down on refined sugar, such as those in desserts. Rule of thumb--pick natural foods over those that are processed, especially when it comes to sugar (example--fresh fruits instead of dried, low-carb milk--taking the sugar reduction an extra step, etc.)
4. Eliminate fast-food and anything that seems excessively fatty. Pay close attention to trans-fats when reading labels. If you must eat out, pick what seems the healthiest, such as salad with low-fat dressing, or a grilled sandwich with wheat bread.
5. Maintain the best GPA possible and enough credit hours in order to graduate by 20_ _. Mix up the courseload so that it will not be too difficult.
6. Set time aside one day each week to do something fun. You're only young once.

This is not a good resolution, sorry. You set the bar TOO high. It is going to exhaust you emotionally and physically, and hurt you in the long run. You have to give your nervous system and your body some time to rebound during each week. Sprint 5 days/ week is more than enough. 3.5 GPA is good enough. Set lower standards (but not too low), and then you can always do better by over-achieving them. If you follow this resolution the way it is set now, you are going to miss many very important things in life, and therefore are going to lose at the end.

Good resolutions.... as for working out and dieting.... im in the army, we run 5 days a week and have a tough weight standard to meet. As for #4 if you want high calories eat red meat, it is full of vitamins and protein, no fat and it will promote muscle growth since red meat is full of creatine. I went from 180 to 215 pounds in a couple months, I also use whey protein after I work out. Good luck, excercise and weight lifting is funand you will meet all kinds of people in the gym, so you will have a social life... :)

I think you have set the bar very high. If you can keep these resolutions it would be very good. However for your height and weight it does not seem that you would be as worried about weight loss. It would be very good though to keep yourself healthy and live a good long life.

Looks like a plan, only dont run every day. Your muscles need time to rest. Run no more than five times a week

I think that that is determination. I wish you the best of luck. I want to lose weight and start feeling better about myself and see if there is anyway that one can improve their own self esteem. I hate my life and the way that I look. I wish that I had your determination. I wish you the very best of luck to be able to do it.

I think its setting the bar alittle to high, because i wouldn't want you to not acheive those goals and end up upset with yourself, small goals that keep you motivated to reach thoughs larger goals might be better, but who am i to say, maybe your determined enough.
