Hmm...certainly, Till Death Do Us Part has a seriously dodgy central character - the utterly bigoted Alf Garnett. But Johnny Speight, the writer, and Warren Mitchell, the (Jewish) actor who played Garnett, have both repeatedly said that the aim was actually to laugh AT racist figures like Garnett, while still enduing him, and everyone around him, with a degree of humanity. And I think it succeeded in that. Certainly more than my own personal choice - Love Thy Neighbour.
This was an entirely dire 70s show, with writing nowhere near the league of Johnny Speights, with the central comic premise of a black family living next door to a white family. Shock! Horror! It was essentially nothing more than a bunch of racial stereotypes and racial slurs thrown back and forth for an eyeball-burning half hour every week.
Evil, pointless waste of time and apparently effort. Check out the link to wallow in its grimness.

Any of those direly unfunny ones where someone famous builds the show around themselves, giving the show and/or their character (the lead of course) their own name. Can't think of any examples now, but I'm sure I'll think of them. They're generally badly written and self-congratulatory rather than making an effort to be funny.

One called 'Respectable' about a middle aged fella who goes to a prostitute - and falls for her. As pretty and inoffensive as her character is, its her stupidity that was supposed to make it funny along with a particularly vulgar prostitute and the matriach of the brothel was just the most revoltingly foul woman imaginable. I think it was only on for the six episodes.

Just about every excuse for one presently being shown. The last great sitcom was "Only Fools And Horses". I mean ... "Vicar Of Dibley"? What's that all about? Where's the humour?
