I am looking to buy a house that has oil for the heat. The tank has been empty for a couple of months. Is this going to be a problem with it working properly once more oil is added in?

My tank (inside) sits empty almost every summer and I have had no problems with it and it is close to 20 years old. Just make sure there is a good filter on the outlet of the tank to catch the crud that might get stirred up off the bottom.

You say you are looking to buy. When you find the property that you age going to buy. Have the house inspected by a Licensed Home inspector. He can identify potential problems and you will be in a better position to negotiate with the seller.

If it's only been a few months just prime the fuel into the heating unit, & you should be fine.

Condensation forms on the inside and runs to the bottom. There should be some sort of drain for this.
