It won't matter to PHP but you may want to take into account that a webserver might allow a user to view a .inc files contents, while it will not do so for a .php file.

For a good combination of clarity and safety, name your files .inc.php

I don't think it matters what you name it, as long as you reference it accurately when you go to call it in your main function.
