How long did it take him to die? Any pain？Did he still have hearing immediately after he died?

The neck was broken, severing his spine very high on the neck....thus no feeling. I'm sure that death was not instantaneous......but I'm sure severed spine shut down his "breathing centers" and he passed out after many seconds from a lack of oxygen to the brain......never to awaken. This of course is my opinion.....I could be wrong.

Actually, the fall may not have broken his neck, only restricting his airways, resulting in asphyxiation. He was most likely in pain, and it may have taken him from 30 seconds to 8 minutes to die from loss of oxygen. Hearing is one of the last senses to go, so yes, he could hear.

The drop is intended to be sufficient to break the person's neck, causing immediate paralysis and immobilization (and perhaps immediate unconsciousness--though this matter is questioned).
