They can stretch there way up there if they are long enough, or if the tank if short enough. But I would say no, they can not *climb* glass.
For the people who are saying that snakes can climb of the glass, well iv'e never seen it in the 6 years ive had snakes.
My current count of snakes that I own is 11 and none of them can *climb* there glass.
1 because smooth surfaces (like glass) are much harder for the snakes to move around on just on the ground so you know it's got to be even more difficult to climb a smooth surface like glass, 2 because snakes just are not built to crawl on smooth surfaces.

Yes, whether you believe it or not, some snakes have learned that if they wet themselves in their water bowl before they climb up the glass it will help them stick to the glass. The smaller the surface area on the snake with the water on the glass the easier this trick works.
I have seen my snakes try this trick.
Snakes will learn how to get out of their tank if there is a weak spot so if your snake gets out and you find it when you put it back watch him. He will go back to the spot where he got out and try again.

I am watching Foster, my Banana King, climb up the side of his tank right now. However, when he get to the point where he can't hold himself up from below-PLOP goes Foster, so I really don't think he's climbing, more "standing" and leaning on the glass.
Scarlett, my tiny little cornsnake, can shinny right up the side of her tank and sleep on the lip-she's sleeping under the lip right now, goofy girl. She'll be sad when she's too big to fit.
So, my answer is that they can when they are small, but when they get too heavy, they are no longer able to climb. However, if Foster didn't have a top on his tank he'd loop right over the top and be gone in a flash. So, always keep a top on your tank.

Yes they definitely can. We have a milk snake and it is constantly crawling up the side of the tank. We have weights on the lid so he doesn't get our though. Hope this helped.
