I am 21 years old, so people tell me that it hurts more as I get older, so I should go to the doctor (which will apparently hurt less because the doctor uses numbing gel) as opposed as the mall (places such as Claires)

Ask around at your physicians office because they might offer it. My doctor's office offers ear piercing and if you are a little worried it would obviously make more sense to do it at the doctor! Good luck!

Getting your ears pierced does not hurt that much at all. It is definitely not something you have to go to the doctors for. Just get it done in the mall like at a Piercing Pagoda or Claires. Its quick, cheap and pretty painless.

All up to you. If you are into a little pain then yeah the mall places are fine. Now if you are afraid of pain and need some assurance that you will not feel a thing then find a doc that does it. Or the other thing is alot of the tattoo parlors can do it clean and fast and most of the time it happens so fast you don't feel a thing.

It all depends on how sensitive your skin is to the metals. Ask your family members if they need to use 14 kt gold posts. I went to Claire's to get my ears pierced, knowing my family had a background of sensitive skin. My ears got infected about 4 times before I decided to let them grow back. I wish I'd gone to a doctor, but there weren't any in my area to go to.

Definitely go to the doctor's if you have that option!!!

I would go to a piercing shop not the mall. They know what they are doing. I had mine pierced with a 6 gauge needle when I was 21 and it didn't hurt at all.

Seriously, A Doctor? Do you live in a Beverly Hills mansion? Should I get my Attorney to mow my lawn? Go to the mall like the rest of us.

Hmmm..I personally have never heard of getting it done at the doctor's office but if it is available to you and he will numb your earlobes then I say go for it! It's probably a lot safer too.
Good luck and have a blessed evening!

Nah, it's so quick either way... you could go to the mall and request that they have one person doing it at the same time so that you don't get one pierced and change your mind.

no go to Claires or do it yourself. Freeze your ear with ice cubes, sterilize a safety pin or sewing needle and do it. That's how mine were done years ago.
