No easy answer for this one....depending on the extent of your depression. Keep in mind that holiday time is known for more cases of depression, but if its not Major depression (wanting to hurt yourself, or crying all the time)ususally fresh air and sunshine (really Vit.D) at least an hour a day helps seratonin levels and that helps with depression....having a good friend that you can talk to, (that doesn't mean you have to take their advice) just venting sometimes helps. Exercise helps too! But if you feel more than just sad....you need to consult a doctor. There are great advances in antidepression medicine that can lift your spirits enough to give you the strenght you need to find the right solution to your situation. Just remember that sometimes we have to have these periods and that it to will pass....just try to have positive thoughts that things will improve and work it out...just remember its not important how far we fall...its more important that we get back up and know you are important...to yourself first...and that there is solutions for every problem.Stay Strong...just that you are asking for help...tells me that you are an intelligent person who realizes when to ask for help and are trying to take care of the situation...thats says alot in itself about you...WEAK people never admit when things are tuff and look for help, they only want pity, doesn't sound like you....I wish you the best...and hang tuff....a tunnel has two open ends....just remember when the going gets tuff the tuff get going...and find the light at the OTHER end of YOUR tunnel! If you want to be email friends I would like that. Patrinka_613@yahoo.com...

I don't know anything about drugs, but there are a lot of studies that say that exercising can put you in a good mood. Try visiting the pool or a beach for a swim, or taking a hike through a wooded park area if there is one nearby.

Working with your doctor and finding a good therapist to talk to. The doctor can eliminate any physical reasons for the depression, and prescribe the medications that you might need. The therapist can help you learn to cope with it and won't be judgmental. Having a couple of good friends to talk to will help.

A good pshcologist and psychiatrist. You need to consider group therapy so you will know you're not the ony one who feels so bad, and also to be taking a combination of psychotropic medications to balance your mood swings. I know you must be hurting, but there is no magic elixir I can recommend...you need to seek professional help.
