Your teacher is wrong and she is an idiot. I majored in journalism and took several classes in high school and college and not one teacher or professor said anything remotely similar. Reporters are supposed to remain unbiased when they report but, you don't have to hate America to do so.
Although, journalist are taught to tell both sides of their story, while leaving out their feelings, modern journalism has made it able for reporters state their opinions on several subjects.
Most newspapers are either a "democratic" or "republican" paper. Although they don't come out and say it, if you compare stories on the same subject you will be able to draw your own conclusion.
CNN and other news stations don't "Hate America" I think if anything, they protect the government. No ones doing stories on WHY gas prices are so high. No one is asking where Osama is now. ect. I think that there is censorship from the government on many stories.
Reporters are reporting news for people who love the government and America. They need to be able to identify with the person telling the story.

Your teacher is a dumbass!

To know the truth, all you need to do is just think a little bit about what your teacher said. For example, if someone is taught to hate something, how does that make them less biased? In order to be unbiased, they would be taught to neither like nor hate the US. The statement made by your teacher is therefore logically inaccurate, and would therefore qualify as opinion, which probably means she has NO evidence to back up what she said. If you really want to get to the bottom of this, ask your teacher to present her unbiased sources to back up her statement.

Your Parent's need to request some serious changes at school. Your teacher sounds like a moron. Journalists (at least when I was in college) were taught no such things. We were taught to try to be as unbiased as possible, however everyone brings in some form of personal opinion. It's very difficult to be totally unbiased. Your teacher sounds like a nutcase.

Your teacher is teaching Americans to hate journalists because they are not supposed to be biased. She feels it is important for democracy and freedom to be replaced by government control over the media. Unbiased journalism is dangerous. It allows people to make informed decisions and they usually decide not to vote for a corrupt or incompetent government. Obviously this is a problem for your current leaders.

How does hating someone make you unbiased? The Department of Homeland Security would probably like to know a little more about your teacher!

Regardless of whether you are taught to love it or hate it, the bias will exist. Being human and capable of independent thought makes us all biased.
