I have a new hamster, and he was in his exercise ball and I went out of the room for a minute and when I came back there was semi thick yellow fluid in it. Would that be the hamster's urine? I'm not sure if it's supposed to be clear or have color to it. I'm worried that it may be vomit, or some sort of diarreah. He seems okay to me, but I want to know for sure.

And what's Yahoo's problem? This is the third time I've asked this, and they haven't put it up. It's a legitimate question about my new hammie. Sheesh.

It's just pee mixed with water fluids from her body. Don't sweat it dude. Don't worry about it because she will be just fine. Hamsters always pee in their ball. In fact, my hamster always does the same thing. Just don't sweat it and take a deep breath. Good Luck!

Hamster urine is a cloudy pale yellow, but shouldn't be much thicker than water (maybe a little). It is pretty common for them to urinate inside the plastic balls as well.

Hamster pee is thick and yellow and smelly!
I had a hamster that seemed to pee everywhere instead of in the corners like most others.

It's pee. My hamster used to pee (sometimes poop) in his exercise ball every time that he went in. And yes, hamsters pee is also yellow. It's nice to see that owners are really concerned about their pets. Any concern that new pet owners have are legitimate, I don't know why Yahoo didn't put it up sooner. Good luck with your pet!

yes, it's urine. if you don't want it to urinate in it's ball again (it could get on your floor), then start out leaving the hamster in the ball for 5 min, then gradually increase the time until your hamster is well adjusted to it's ball.

Should be urine. It is pretty "different" looking urine. That is why it builds up in the corners of the cage and causes urine scale in the cage.

The Yahoo! people are seemingly idiots. You can ask a good question and it get deleted or not posted. Ask about having sex with your dog and it stays up forever!!!!!!
