Is it just me or does anyone else find it distasteful that the execution of Sadam has made top headlines over our OWN former President's passing away? I find this rude and it really shows where the American interest lies. I think we owe some respect to those who have led our great country before us. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Saddam Hussein's execution is the culmination of years of work by American forces, and is just as newsworthy as the passing of Jerry Ford.
Saddam's execution is very much an American story because it's the US's normal meddling that brought it about. Your comment about where American interest lies is ironic; American interest lies everywhere and seems to know no boundries.

Ford's passing was extensively in the news, prior to Saddam's execution; they had history episodes of Ford's life on PBS, history channel, on the internet; they recapped his life very well since his passing. Now, they are focusing on Saddam's execution, because for one, it relates to the whole concept of invading Iraq in the first place, and two, Saddam's execution is critical to the insurgency that is in Iraq. Point being--Ford's passing was definitely in the news---heavily.

Isn't this an interesting conjunction?

Would this comparison be the incidental reason for the rush in killing Hussein?

You never know what PR people are capable of doing...
