Stop it. This "comparison" is ridiculous. Jordan was:
1) a far better defender
2) playing in a WAY more competitive league (with Bird and Celtics, Magic and Lakers, and Thomas and Pistons)
3) a far better teammate
4) winning titles without a dominant big man as a teammate.
I could go on, by why bother.

They are about the same except Jordan comanded respect and Kobe has a knack for irritating people. People forget Kobe went head to head with Jordan during Jordan's last 2 championship runs and usually played well against him and wasn't very intimidated at all. In fact Jordan used to give Kobe pointers on how to improve his game when he was 18 and first came into the NBA. Also Jordan has said Kobe is the best guard in the NBA, and has said he can see similarities in their game. You got to remember Kobe grew up practicing Jordan's moves so to compare the two isn't very fair. I will say that Jordan had better shot selection though were I feel Kobe shoots when he shouldn't and passes when he should shoot sometimes but not all the time. As far as stats it's not really going to give you an accurate analysis because Kobe would have a lot of scoring titles if he was drafted by a team with no other dominant scorers when he was younger and when Jordan lead the NBA in steals hand checking was legal so it's hard to say whether or not Kobe could do the same guarding shooting guards if hand checking was not illegal.

Check the stats. Kobe has superseded Jordan's numbers as far as scoring averages per season, defense, less time to get a championship. Of course with the help of Shaq at his side, he was almost able to beat Jordan's championships. Early 90's Jordan has similarities to Kobe's old play, but he is more dominant now than the early Jordan.

Michael Jordan
1) Jordan REGULARLY scored over 50 points per game.
2) Jordan carried his team single-handedly.
3) Jordan won more championships.
It's elementary, really.
