Yes, I think politicians are smart. They need to know what to say and how to say it, as well as predicting how what they say can/will be used against them and how it will affect everyone else. Haha, a lot of stuff said in that last sentence. This is why they lie all of the time, they can't let anything that will harm the community be let out or else they're not going to do good getting votes and stuff..
all I can really say is: Some more than others.

Is that a trick question?

Actually I do believe SOME politician are pretty smart. The problem is their priorities are definitely not in order and the things they will do to get what they want are not always a good idea. Mostly I think they like to throw their morals out the window if it will serve their purpose.
There are a few who are better than others for sure and let's face it no one is perfect, but lets face this too politicians are some of the most crooked people you'll ever meet. Says a lot for our justice system and government does it not?

I think that politicians are smart enough to act dumb, unusual statement i know but its true. To be quite honest most people feel uncomfortable with people who are smart, that "aww shucks" charm wins them over better and also holds them unaccountable when something goes wrong.

If they did not achieve the requirement, they won't become a politician in the first place.

There's a difference between wise and smart.
Smart is going to college, getting your Masters and Doctorates.
Wise is being able to use your knowledge and apply it to do the right things.
Politicians ARE smart, but definitely not wise :)
