I am looking for some fun things to do in or around the Orlando area besides the regular stuff like Disney, Universal Studios, and Seaworld.

I was born and raised in Orlando, I would suggest taking a day trip to Cocoa Beach and Kennedy Space Center. It is only 40 mins from Orlando on the Beachline/Beeline/528. There is no other place quite like Kennedy Space Center, and you might be able to catch a launch of a satellite when you're there. Also Ron Jon's surf shop in Cocoa is a great place to get T-shirts from Florida, that are really Florida. Skip the I-Drive 3 for $10 crap.

The person who said Park Avenue in Winter Park is right. Park Avenue is very trendy/che-che-fru-fru, but it is a nice place to go, especially if you like boutique shopping. There is a Winter Park boat tour that is fabulous, you see real Florida fauna, and multi-million dollar houses.

Cafe Tu Tu Tango is also a good recommendation that someone gave. Get there early, otherwise you'll have to wait.

I would also go to Gatorland, it is a staple Florida place to go. They are family owned, and recently had a fire, so it would be great to go, because not only do you see a LOT of Florida wildlife, but because they are at a crossroads in their business operation.

If you like food, make a reservation in the early morning for your favorite country's cuisine at EPCOT.

I personally like the Boma restaurant inside the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is so yummy, and the atmosphere is nice.

Those are just some starters. Try to avoid I-Drive T-shirt shops, ugh.

If you're really adventurous go over to St Pete/Clearwater and have dinner in Pass-a-grille and watch the sunset.

I don't know about you, but I always wanted to go to Disney and pull Mickey's tail.

Orlando is only about an hour from NASA and since it's government owned all the fun is free. There's a small charge to take a tour bus to Cape Canaveral or the Kennedy Space Center, but both are lots of fun.

If you're not into space, maybe a trip over to Daytona Beach to visit NASCAR or just the beach.

Wet 'n Wild is the best place in Orlando! Also, when you're done going there, visit Fun Spot(a good thing to do is to try to get there before 12 PM so then you can get wristbands cheaper). Skyventure is cool too. There's so much to do in Orlando and in I-Drive. Visit Ron Jon Surf Shop is you'd like, that's always fun to go to.

Hope you have fun in Orlando!
Happy 2007!

Take an airboat ride to see Alligators and some of Florida's natural wetlands! I recommend the Boggy Creek airboat rides, located in the town of Poincicana. From the 192 in Kissimme, you will head east on Poincicana Blvd and follow the signs to Boggy Creek Airboat Rides. They are posted all over Kissimmee and even on billboards.

I also recommend driving down to Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota. It is the most beautiful beach in all of Florida!

Stop by Houlihans in Kissimme (by marker 4) on the 192. They have AMAZING food and terrific ambiance!

Try Gatorland...it's pretty fun. Also...visiting some of the area hotels can be fun. They all have great restaurants...plus it's fun to people-watch. Try going to the Premium Outlets by SeaWorld. They are really fun and you can get some great bargains. Check out www.orlandoinfo.com for other things to do. It's a GREAT resource!!

Well its still warm there so there is Wet and Wild on I-Drive. It's a waterslide park. Going to Universal CityWalk at night is really fun. Walking around Winter Park's Park Ave is a delight.

For food, I recommend Cafe Tutu Tango, which is on International Drive. it's a tapas restaurant (and the food is really good!) that has live artists painting that you can watch while you eat as well as live tango dancers who dance through the tables. It's really entertaining and you great food too.

Other stuff that is pretty cool include boat and eco tours, hot air balloon rides, and museums
