Is life considered cheap to a Muslim?

I know all Muslims are not terrorists, but aren't all the insurgents enguaging in the bombings Muslims?
I am amazed at how many are willing to strap a bomb on their body and blow themselves and innocent bystanders apart.
Fathers leaving wives and kids behind to fend for themselves? It seems like a selfish act, while creating a hardship on the surviving family members of a homicide bomber.

This is something I really do not understand about Muslims. They seem to have no actual value for human life. They believe that their spirit, I guess, will go on to a better place. if that is the case, why do they just not kill themselves at birth.. why waste all that time living. And why, for Gods sake do they think they have to take so many with them. This is indeed a strange religion. I am trying to study it right now and so much seems to lean toward peace, so I am not sure where all the violence comes from.. but then again Christianity and Judaism are supposed to be peaceful too... and well,. you know the answer to that one.
