I believe Roosevelt was president for Pearl harbor, and Harry Truman succeeded him, and was the one that made the decision to drop atomic bombs on the two cities in Japan.

That was Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was president through most of that time, however just before the end of the war he died and Harry Truman became President through the end of the war. He was the one who ordered the atomic bomb dropped on Japan to end the fighting.Interesting note:Franklin D. Roosevelt was a distant cousin of Theodore Roosevelt, who was also president and who was also the uncle of F.D.R's wife Eleanor Roosevelt whose maiden name, of course, was Roosevelt(talk about keeping things in the family).

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was president at that time. Lucky George W. Bush wasn't president then because we would have entered the war on Hitler's side.
