There are two nerves to each finger, one going along each side. At the end, past the first knuckle, it branches into many small nerves, hard to repair. The tendon on the back side of the finger is alot easier to repair than the one on the palmer side. The flexor tendon is hard to repair and you must wear a splint for a pretty long time. Good luck, the tendons need to be fixed in order for the finger to work right, it's important to do it right and do it early in the injury. There are two tendons that flex the finger, flexor digitorum profundus/sublimus and flexor indicis. The index finger is very important to work correctly for you to have good use of the hand for fine work.
