IQ stands for intelligence quotient. The highest score that can be measured with real IQ tests would be about 140. Tests that you do on line are not real IQ tests. The real ones are administered by a psychologist and are called the Wechsler scales and the Stanford Binet.

The scores from 85 to 115 are the average range, low average to high average, so 118 is slightly above average. However, if it was from an on line test, remember that they score differently and usually higher.

Today we realize that intelligence is much more complex than an IQ score might suggest. These links explain a bit more about IQ scores. Much more important than an IQ score is what you do with it.

91-120 Average
121-140 Above Average
141-200 Geniuss

I scored an 184 on an IQ test designed for adults when I was 11, and I was really sleepy. So my IQ is 200+ I would guess.

So you are high average. IQ meens Intelligence Quotient.

Well, Einstein scored a 212 on his IQ test, and I think that is the highest measurable IQ. I think that 118 is the average person's IQ. So if 118 is your IQ, then congratulations, you're not stupid!!!

Intelligence Quotient. 118 is pretty good. 140 is genius. Marilyn Voss Savant has the current highest at 228. The highest ever was William Sidis, estimated to be above 250 (between 250-300).

the scale is different on different tests. A high IQ hardly means anything more than an ability to do well on standardized tests. On the Stanford-Binet scale, a 156 score puts me in the top 2%. If I remember correctly, my Weschler score was 36. If you want to take a standardized test, contact Mensa in your area. That's the so-called high-IQ society.

That is a good score - average is 100 and have a score above 110 means that you are brighter than 75% of all the people your age - take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iq for more information.

Good Luck!!!

I.Q. stands for Intelligence Quotient, 118 isn't that bad actually; I scored a 154 when I was tested back when I was 8 years old. Kepp up the brain busters and use your mind in a different way everyday! Happy Exploring!

Intelligence quotient. However, it doesn't mean much. It means you can pass an IQ test. It won't help you get a job or into a college. Don't put too much stock in it - most people don't (unless you want to join MENSA, which isn't all it's cracked up to be, plus your score isn't high enough).

The standard psychiatric reference lists scores of 110 to 120 as "bright normal," 120 to 130 as "superior," and 130 and above as "very superior." But it really depends on which IQ test you took.

IQ scores don't change with age, and internet IQ scores are meaningless. They don't agree with the official scores and give everyone high scores.
