It will depend it is a company affair or a personal affair. With a company affair, a suit dress with a string of pearls works very well. You can have a low neckline but tempered for the company's reputation.
For a personal affairs Pant suit or the famous black dress is always a show stopper. If you are slender and you want to assets your legs more than your shape wear some strappy sandals. If your are petite -- I would wear a narrow heel with more definition on a skinny heel.
Black is always you first choice in both occasion -- but I love Ice Blue with a little Sateen to kick it up a notch.

something that is comfortable- dont wear new clothes, wear something that youve had for awhile and feel comfortable in. you dont want something that could have an itchy tag u just discovered or jeans that stretch out halfway through the night
