Yea you need a passport just to fly

This is an easy one AUNTY - you quite definitely do NOT need a passport valid or otherwise to travel from London to Belfast whether by air or otherwise, unless you are not a citizen of the European Union - then a passport is helpful.

Relax and enjoy the party.

If you are a citizen of an EU country, you don't need a passport. But you need some official paper to prove you're a citizen of an EU country... Identity card or driving license will do.

hello there
i flew to Dublin from stanstead earlier on this year
it was when there was chaos due too high security problems
i took my passport but my Friend that i flew with took just his driving licence due too not having a passport.
He flys regularly to Ireland due to his parents living there and i believe that he just takes his driving licence every time.
Just make sure its a photo licence and not the old paper type

have fun and enjoy the Guinness

Nope, cause you're flying within the British Isles... You will, however, HAVE to have photo ID... so if you've not got a photo driving licence, you best get a passport!

If you have an ID with a photo eg driving licence that will be fine you DO NOT need a passport

I should have said the driving licence will do without your passport

You don't need a passport for a domestic flight just a valid I.D.

You should take some sort of photograph ID.
I assume you will need your passport again so get it renewed and it will always be available

As it is a domestic flight, you don't really need your passport, though it is useful to have as a form of ID. If you can't use your passport, make sure you have another acceptable form of ID.
