JACKSON'S MUSIC STORE

A reputable music store, but you can also find some good buys in the want ads of the newspapers.

I'm a bass player and I have a few collectible basses, but the best deal I ever found was in an ad in my local newspaper. Seems a guy with a serious back injury couldn't hold or play his Gibson bass anymore, so he ran an add to sell it. I saw the ad, was in the market and called him. Turns out he was selling a Gibson ThunderBass, with a hard shell case, that's the bass equivalent of the Gibson Firebird guitar (manufactured for a short period of time in the 60's), for $100.00. It was in 'like new' condition, I liked it and bought it. Turns out it was the 8th one made and it's now worth about $7500.00!

You can find ads where people are just trying to get rid of stuff they don't want anymore. Great buys are common, collector's items are rare, but they're out there. If you need a guitar right now, go to a store or start watching the ads!

there are several ways to by a guitar.used, brand new, music store ,pawn shop, catalog .for me the best way was to buy them brand new. like at guitar center or the local music store.you have a much broader selection and all different pricings. also you can usally bargain with the sales rep on price and get him(or her) to throw in a couple of packs of strings, guitar strap, and picks. if you buy a used guitar take someone with you that knows what to look for like , a straight neck , or if the frets are worn down, plug it in and see if the knobs all work, and check the action(closeness of the strings to the fret board) allways check for cracks on either acoustic or electric guitars .hope this helps.
