What character who has never lived has inspired your life more?

Yesterday I was browsing the bookstore and ran across a book about something, roughly '101 of the most inspirational characters that never lived.' The list ranged from Shylock to Mickey Mouse, Santa and the Wandering Jew. Number one was a big surprise to me: The Marlboro Man.
So, what about yourselves? What fictional character has shaped your life and why?
