You need to get hold of a device called a pc polisher, it uses a random orbital motion and needs special products to go with it but that will get rid of light scratches and swirl marks.

If you look at the detailing world forum here

you can see the difference it makes - quite impressive i think you'll agree.

Be careful with those "Street Polishes". There are many types of paints, and many types of polishes and waxes. You have to experiment with various polishes and combination waxes. It is very possible that some polish used on your car's paint has caused or contributed to the scratches you are seeing. Try what you have in obscure places first. Then remove the polish residue and finish with a good quality wax. If you still see scratches, then they may be permanent. Some car paints are lacquer, some are enamel, and some are combinations thereof. If you are certain that you cannot remove or cover the scratches you are seeing, you can try a rubbing compound, but for most cars, that is far too coarse and severe. Paint shops now use an ultra fine rubbing compound called "polishing clay", which is really the way to do it best. Best never to use a machine polisher on your car paint. However, it is a lot more work to get to the end when you use the hand and elbow.

there doesnt seem to be anything metallicy, but if they are only slight urface scratches, then it shouldnt make too much difference, as long as the colour match is good.

I use Meguiar Scratch X to remove scratches from my car.

Sometimes waxing the car will get light surface scratches out as well.
