Seriously - Why would people be staring at you because you're gay? How are they going to know you're gay?
The reason genrally a gay person is going to be treated like they are different is because they are different. That is to say, there is a difference between them and the rest of the group. A difference is going to cause someone to be treated differently. Not neccessarily poorly, but the difference will always be recognized and lead to behavior in recognition of this. A mature person recognizes this for what it is and is okay with it. Usually the more pronounced behavior will go away as the commanality between the different person and the others is shown to be greater than the difference.
Now about the staring. Nobody is going to stare at a gay person for being gay unless the gay person is doing something that shows they are gay. That, of course, is going to lead to odd behavior from others as homosexuality is a sexual fettish. There are lots of people who enjoy exotic activites in that realm of life, but most leave them in their private area and nobody knows or wants to know. If a person is publicly demonstrating a minority sexual bent in public, then they will always cause discomfort in others.
Think what would happen if a man took out a womans used shoe and began sniffing it in a gathering of friends? He may be a cool guy. He might be really sweet. He is still sniffing a shoe, which is not a crime, or hurting anyone else, but it's going to cause a reaction.
In polite society four relationships are recognized: Relative, Friend, Fiance, and Spouse. ANything other than those four is one's own business and nobody needs to know about it. Keep it to those four when you bring a person your interested in to an event, and you don't get into any problems.

society always treats the "outsiders" different from people just like them. Society tells you you should have this and this, and do this, and drive this, and look like this, and believe this, and that's the way society is always going to be. It's hard for people to accept new things when they aren't used to them and are around them for the first time, but to me gays are just like anyone else. I have a lot of gay friends in college and I don't see what the problem is. They all have a heart and blood and a brain and a face, two legs and two arms, so I don't see how they are any different. It's just the way people were brought up, and the way society says people should be...only the person himself can change that and i think everyone should be a little more open minded.

Good people don't treat anyone differently, no matter how polar opposite they are from each other. Insecure and fearful people, on the other hand, look for the things people are that are different from them and make those things "bones of contention". It's a way of putting someone down while raising their own ego up. Typically this is learned from their parents the same way every other kind of prejudice is- it's ignorant, stupid people who are uneducated in the world and lack any kind of common sense. Unfortunately, common sense is not so common, so we have alot of ignorant people in the world.

2. Gay people are seen to be emasculate when there is some masculine homosexuals.
3. People pay too much attention in church :) One day I asked a nun if homosexuality is a sin she said''no but when in comes to marriage that is a different story''Marriage is a boding of two soul who love each other to pledge faithfulness.People of the church called them heathens when they are being just as prejudice against color, race, creed and also religion as other people are in the U.S.
4.They are prone to get the gay bashing or name calling because of homophobia and also because they don't know how it feels to walk in there shoes.
5.Heterosexual men feared getting raped or whatever when the homosexuals don't even want them get hit on all they have to say is"I'm no interested" That's all.

Alot of times people treat gay people different because it is not acceptable behavior to society and some people are just ignorant about the whole situation.
I feel like what a person does behind closed doors is there own personal business, doesnt mean they dont got feelings or arent human just because of their sexual prefrences. Happy Holidays!

there are a lot of reasons.
Religious: Gay people create no new babies, therefor, it cannot be encouraged or there will not be new parishioners to support the religion.
Cultural: Because people BELIEVE the crap in the bible, and because they are afraid that if they rub up against a gay person they too will become one. This is ridiculous of course, cause gay people rub up against straight people all the time, and it does nothing.
FEAR: Called homophobia. Straight people are afraid of gay people cause they might be interested in the sexuality, and the gay people will know that! Always hate what you fear. Don't you hate snakes?...

Not everyone is like that. I don't treat them any different except that I get along better with a lot of gay guys. Other than that I treat them as anyone else. Some people think it is wrong or gross so maybe that is why.

People treat differently those who they are different from or don't understand. It's just the way our society is. Why do we treat different races differently? Why do tall people have more advantages in business and with women than short people? It's just a stereotype. Sometimes they help, sometimes they hurt.

Not everyone understands. I have plenty of gay friends. I have no problem with them. Actcually there really fun to hang out with. Nobody has the right to judge. Its not their place. I would just ignore them or tell them how you really feel. If it was me I would be pissed if people were always making comments or staring all the time. Just say "**** YOU". Its that simple!!! Good Luck

Because you're different, in a way or another, for good or for bad, different things will always provoke commentaries, as long as you're not offended directly, just move on and keep your head up, always, don't worry about them. It's just that they don't have anything better to do with their lives, just to rise gossips about others 'cause their lives are not interesting enough.
Happy New Year
