White people probably do have more opportunity than other races. However, we all have choices. For example, I grew up in poverty. We constantly had to deal with no electricity or running water. It was hell. I knew that I did not have more opportunity than most kids. I worked hard in school to get good grades while working at a fast food joint to make money. Because of my grades a college rewarded me with an academic scholarship. I also got grants from the government. My point is that if you work hard it doesn't matter what color you are; you can do anything you want in America. I guarantee you that if I lived in ANY other country I would not have been afforded the opportunities that I have today.

TWO senereo's Say one family the parents are immigrants and barely speak the language and don't know how to read and write.
Work two jobs to support their children and send them to school. While learning a foreign language, they are set in the back of the class because the teacher feels as you do that they are really not able to learn. Probably do field work when they grow up. So why bother to teach them when they have 35 other students doing just great. That child when they get in high school and can't keep up will probably drop out and go to work in the local car garage. Or find that employment is almost impossible to find. Because he has no skills and doesn't even read well. As a high school drop out what jobs are available to them? Are they going to get out of low income housing?
Now, say that this family is white and raised in middle America.
Grew up speaking the language and before they start school learn how to read and write well. Progress in school with or above the other children. Because the parents who are educated know the benefit of a good education. So help the child with homework and explain the benefits of higher education.
Discuss college and entrance exams and even hire a tutor if the child has problems. He does an appitutede test to deside what he wants to do in life. Where does his skills lie. This is common but not among minorities. Then he works towards that goal.
Usually spends time in a trade school or college and or a University. Is he going to be content to work for minimum wage?
No, he has self esteem, he has done well in school and knows he deserves more pay. He is a tall white boy with a good education. Isn't he more abt to get hired for the good jobs?
Then a very insecure high school drop out that still speaks with a heavy accent.
Children who are adopted to white families and have opportunities and priviledges that they would not have gotten with their own parents. Do very well in society and get great jobs and do well as parents. So the skin color is not the issue, it is the opportunities.

BECAUSE THE RICH GET RICHER AND THE POOR GET POORER. IT'S PART OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER SPONSERED BY THE ILLUMINATI AND THE BUSHES ALMA MATER THE SKULL AND BONES ORGANIZATION. MAYBE THIS WILL HELP.......
once again a telegram has arrived and i wonder how many people have taken the time to read it. this one was express mail but with all that is taking place on the gulf coast it's understandable why so many will miss the message. every so often, much more frequently these days, i get a note like this that i'm told is really a mass mailer. must be the selfish side of me because it seems that it was meant for only me and my responsibility is to share the contents for all to see.
the cataclysmic event that is taking place staggers the imagination. as of 9-08-05 the death toll in mississippi was set at 196, 2 in alabama, 7 in florida and god only knows how many in louisiana. 1000's ? can't help but wonder that if those in dire straights were white republicans, rather than the vast majority being black and well below the poverty line, how much quicker the rescue efforts would have unfolded. . on cnn last night 3 college kids from duke were interviewed and they explained how they, after stealing press passes, drove right up to the superdome and shuttled some of the less fortunate to safety. they did mention that on the way into new orleans they saw " bus after bus leaving town empty". wouldn't be prudent or politically correct for me to examine this direction any further. besides the truth is there for all to see. make of it what you will.
as katrina gathered in the atlantic ocean thousands of israelis were evicted from their homes and at the same time final preparations were completed for the annual southern decadence day in the big easy. this week long labor day festival in new orleans brings in 100,000 homosexuals and $100,000,OO0.00 in past years public photos were taken of ineffable acts, committed at this celebration ,and presented to both police and the mayor. nothing was done. money talks. for the love of money is the root of all evil; which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1tim6:10
in mississippi 23 of 38 casinos were destroyed.

there's no such thing as coincidence. how many telegrams will it take?
it's 3:16am and time to praise God's Holy name.
Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

There are poor of every race and color in every country on our earth, from the beginning of time and will continue to get worse as the world becomes more and more over populated. I agree with the first answer, that what people are born into is the life they know and continue to live, in most cases not having the means or knowledge to change thier circumstances. It's living in a rut.

People choose where they live. They don't have to look like ghetto's if people just had a little pride in their homes and would make the effort to keep them looking nice. They say they don't have the money but when you drive through their neighborhood you see they found the money somehow to sit on the curb and smoke cigarettes and drink beer.

its a vicious cycle, parents can't afford good neighborhoods with good schools, or to pay their kids way thru college. becuz of lack of education, they don't get good jobs, the cycle repeats. every now and then kids may get a scholarship and do right by their family. education is key, get an education before hv'ing babies so they don't hv to live with your poor choices. not to mention, growing up in a depressed environment creates hopelessness, getting teased for being poor depresses kids before thy hv a shot. hv some empathy!

Because sadly enough racism is alive in America, and to put it frankly white people have more opportunities. I don't like it, but it's a fact.

Do you really want the answer? The reality is this. They live in low income areas because they have low incomes. Any one of them that can afford to move out, does. Also the low income areas stay that way because the people that live there want to keep it that way. They dont want to clean up the neigborhoods.

Of course this is wrong, but it's easier to come with with the answer than it is to come with the solution.
