If you type www.mp3real.ru into your address bar it'll take you to a Russian website that has quite a bit of music of different varieties. There should be a bar across the screen containing the various letters of the alphabet... click on a letter and it'll take you to a list of bands. Click on the band's name and it'll take you to a list of albums. Click on the name of the album you want and it'll take you to a list of songs. Click on the "mp3" link next to the song you want and you should be able to download the song.

Of course, when downloading anything off the internet you should be careful about spyware and trojan horses and all that. Personally, I've never had problems with this site, but that's no guarantee. If you want completely safe songs, many musicians post songs on their personal web sites. You can try typing their name into a search engine and see what comes up.

Oh, and I don't speak Russian, so I don't know if any of this is legal. But I'm pretty sure Limewire and other shareware programs are on uncertain legal grounds as well.

Well, using iTunes is usually the best way to get music...but it costs .99 per song

Luckily, my sister found this site, http://linkachi.com/?mb ,and she was able to download the music right off of that site free!
and best of all it doesnt ask for a credit card

so tell me how it works for you,

20,000+ really free music files: http://www.jamendo.com/en/
(They are really free, so you won't find the 'normal' stuff like Britney Spears or Madonna etc.)

With shareaza (http://www.shareaza.com) you can find the 'normal' stuff. Don't forget to have updated anti-malware software on your computer. Here's a list: http://www.ewido.net/en/compatibility/
