sometimes it can hurt but with a little ibuprofen it feels better you get your period because the lining of your uterus is sheding (your uterus is something i will let your mom expain to you)

just b/c your friend had her period does not mean that you are going to have your soon. but just be prepard that having cramps (which is a sign of starting your period) does kind of hurt for some girls. don't start out using a tampon first. first use a pad. cuz using a tampon would hurt for the first time having your period.

Aww. Make sure your parents know you are asking this!
Hitting puberty -- in your case, becoming a woman -- is what makes you get your period. In you, you have eggs (don't worry, nobody's going to eat yours, they're not chicken eggs) that, if they meet up with a sperm, become a baby. But if they don't, then you get your period.
Whether or not it hurts depends on the girl. I mean, I have REALLY bad cramps, but, that's because I'm overly fertile. One of my friends doesn't get cramps at all. To avoid cramps once you get your period, try remaining active... you know... exercising and stuff.
Hope that helps.

WELL A PERIOD IS CAUSED BY THE LINING OF THE UTERUS FALLING AND BY AND UNFERTILIZED EGG IN OTHER WORDS YOU BLEED BECAUSE IT IS A RESULT YOU CAN TELL WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO GET YOUR PERIOD BECAUSE YOU MIGHT HAVE CRAMPS OR SPOT A LITTLE BLOOD. IT DOES NOT HURT EXCEPT YOU MAY GET SICK AND BLOATED.

first, are you sure you are close to getting your period? you are fairly young to start... talk to your mom and ask her when she got hers and be sure you have all the signs...
it doesn't hurt really bad to actually get your period (when the blood comes out) but sometimes you get bad cramps... you can take ibuprofen or midol for those.
talk to your friend who has her period about it. or ask your mom or another female adult.
good luck!!

It is not something you need to be fearful of...It is not painful for the most part....there are times that sometime you can be a little crampy...nothing serious though....Is there not an adult that you feel comfortable talking with about this?...I did not start my period until I was 12....so you might not be ready to start yet either....don't be afraid...it is okay....really.

First off - being nine doesn't automatically give you your period. You could very well get it when you're twelve, or even fifteen!
Second, don't worry. Ask the nurse at school, your parents, or an older sister or cousin. They should be able to tell you.
Also - if you're nine I don't think you're supposed to be on Yahoo! Answers. Isn't there an age limit?
