It's not meant to take it's place. It's just another flavor. We've come a long way from the hollow log. ;-)

well i don't think so... i mean i play the 4 string bass and i still found it difficult sometimes... so imagine a 10 string!!!!!!! I'll die... but still a 10 string or 6 string or 5 string has more tones or whatever and that's what makes it special... but besides, you like need really good bass players so they can play the 10 string bass... way too much work

10 STRINGS?!?! OMGah!! that's a bunch of strings!! i mainly use the E, A, and D strings on mine!!!
that's crazy to have 10 strings!!
