I don't know about making us ignorant and promiscuous, but it's sure making us look like we are (I'm 20). The shows make it look like all we want to do is party, get drunk, and have sex. Shows such as Room Raiders, Next, and Date My Mom show us as mindless idiots who just care about finding someone to get into bed. It's a big slap in the face to those of us who don't approve of that kind of lifestyle and don't act like air heads (e.g. girls on Next). Many of the youth today are smart, intelligent people and MTV is only showing a small percentage of us. I say it's time they went back to a 24 hour music channel and stop showing this junk.

I think it is a little bit. Its not just MTV promoting that, its all of society doing that too. Peer pressure, television, Magazines, movies, cable, models, and the music industry. As they say sex sells.
Everyone has a mind of there own and cant necessarily blame everything on that.
I DON'T watch MTV like i used too. I thought MTV was a music video channel? Why is there always TV shows on 85 % of the time and videos 15%?
I do enjoy 2 or 3 shows and find some of the programs on there funny.

YES!!!! These days kids get influenced by movies, music and MTV is contributing a lot to making the youth ignorant and promiscuous.

Yes, I have been watching the Real World since I was like eleven and I stopped watching it like 4 years ago just because they set it up so the cast is always indulging in sex, booze and fighting, Now its girls making out in the hot tub and people having sex on the first night in the house...I mean at least wait until you find out if they might have diseases, its sad because teenagers think thats what they should be like and also in the shows like next and Laguna beach, throw sex around to younger kids like its no big deal,,,I think its nothing but trash and parents should make sure their children dont watch anything like that untill their between the ages of 16 and 18 and are responsible enough to know those people are trashy.

I don't believe tv shows or music can "make" anyone do anything. If that was the case then all the government would have to do is show public service messages to make the youth do whatever they want.
