I know it's hard to tell online, but I just think this is odd. I mean Ana Carolina Reston(model) recently died from anorexia. She was 5'6 88 pounds. My friend is also a model, (just starting out), and she is 5'10 90 pounds. Alot of other people who had anorexia were alot bigger than her. Most models these days are at least 100. She has veins in her forehead, She is always cold, she bruises easily, i never see her eat, and even our teacher (we go to a small private school) said that he caught her throwing up before. She's 18, so i think she's stopped growing...right? If anyone wants a pic, i have one (i'll take her face out of it).

She might be, might not, but she is servery UNDERWEIGHT!!! She should weigh at LEAST 150 lbs, she's 5' 10" for sake! She needs help! You're her friend, please, before it's too late...She is REALLY REALLY underweight, please help her!! She could die at any moment and needs to eat, now!! Even if she says no, or she isn't anorexic, she needs to gain weight and get help, and very soon!

I might need a picture to evaluate how well her health is at the moment.

Oh my Gosh! I am 5'9 and 146 pounds, and I've been told that I shouldn't lose weight or I'll be underweight! There's definetily something wrong here. I don't want to shock you, but I'm surprised that she's alive at that weight. Most models at that height are atleast 110 pounds.

You need to sit her down and get her to go to a doctor. Don't let her tell you no because this is serious. If she has that little weight on her, she needs help. You need to tell her what she's doing to her heart! People with that little weight on their bones get heart problems. When they finally gain some weight and if they do it wrong, they can have a heart attack! This is incredibly serious, and I wish you the best of luck at getting your friend into a doctor's office right away.

ps. Also, I just entered her BMI into a chart and she is at a 12.9 BMI. That's the lowest I've ever heard of. At her age, she should be between 17 and 24. Here's a link to check it out yourself. Hope it helps!

sounds like maybe bulimia. to get diagnosed she has to miss 3 consecutive periods. You need to ask her to lunch and watch her eating habits. does she play with her food, push it around on the plate? you need to call a md and her parents right away. Look at her fingers. does one of them look red,swollen/peeling? that may be a sign. Does she talk about food as in "ohi cant eat that its a bad carb or bad food?" What is she like in other aspects of her life? is she super over achiever in everything else. Usually these people have a lot of self control. A lot use their tooth brush to enduce vomiting so check that too. But she may just have low iron. Straight up ask her what she ate. Be like "man, i'm starving all i had today was 123 what did you eat?" get her talking. Alert someone at the school or her parents right away if you suspect because anorexia is the only mental illness that can kill you. Wikipedia has great information about the symptoms of aneorexia and bulimia. check them out. www.wikipedia.org

Sounds like an eating disorder. If you do decide to broach the subject with her, take the approach that you are concerned about her health. Please make sure you do not mention anything about her appearance as this may be a form of positive reinforcement for them.

The only thing you can legally do is go to Guidance or your school nurse and talk to them. Please ask them to keep your statements confidential.
