This is not a crash - and is very simple to fix! Hold down the Menu and Center button for 5 - 10 seconds and that should do the trick! If not try restoring it. This is done by plugging in your iPod and clicking "Restore" (WARNING - This will erase all music so make sure you back it up by inserting a blank CD, clicking File > Backup to Disc) If none of these work, e-mail me!

Your ipod isn't broken. Well probably not....so relax. Simply hold down the center button and the menu button until the apple logo appears. After this is completed your ipod should return to normal. If problems persist repeat this, if you still have issues bring it into an apple store. The technicians are very knowledgeable.

Try to reupdate it on another computer. That means all the old songs will get deleted and then you have to transfer new songs. I hope that helps.
