USUALLY WHEN A PCM GOES BAD, IT'S NOT IN THE PROGRAMMING, IT IN THE DRIVERS THAT MUST RESPOND TO THE PROGRAMMING...YOU CAN SWAP OUT YOUR PCM WITH NO PROBLEM BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE PROM CHIP FROM YOUR OLD ONE AND INSTALL IT INTO THE NEW...THAT WILL TAKE ALL OF ABOUT ONE MINUTE TO DO...NOW I STARTED OUT BY SAYING USUALLY BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN CASES WHERE FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER THE COMPUTER HAS ABSORBED AN ELECTRICAL SURGE AND TOTALLY FRIED THE PROM CHIP...THAT WILL REQUIRE REPLACING THE PROM AND RE-FLASHING.
