It seem unusual for an 06 reg car to be cat D write off. Cat D is minor accident damage or stolen recovered ( after insurance paid out). It will always be worth less than a none cat D car. Also some insurance companies may get sniffy about insuring it. They can be good value depending on the fault. I would avoid those that are accident damaged and go for stolen/recovered or those that the interior has been destroyed in some way. Anything that affects the integrity of the vehicle - avoid.

cat d means that vehicle has been declared an insurance total loss. basically meaning that the cost to repair the car exceeds usually 75 - 85 percent of the value of the car. but that is usually calculated using manufacturer's parts. i would have thought that the original warranty would therefore only apply to parts of the vehicle that have remained un damaged. any parts that you replace will be covered under warranties on the individual parts.
also the vehicle will only be insurable once a full mot has been passed.
i would definately think that it's resale value would be affected. as the accident it had been involved in would be in the log book.

hi If a vehicle is a Cat D Write Off this suggests the MOT remains valid as an celebration it would want to desire an complete Respray. it would want to desire slightly body artwork straightening to make it secure. the point is that an insurance organization has paid out £15,000 because it would want to fee more suitable than £15,000 to placed lower back to same challenge as earlier the coincidence. remember this may more suitable than in all likelihood include the artwork being performed on the broking service/storage with labour charges of over £one hundred and ten an hour. I once had a Ford and mandatory a Coolant Pump community vehicle keep (same pump, same organization, same field and area huge form). £35.00. Ford (As above yet with the pump in a plastic bag Marked "actual Ford area" £70.00 it truly is the reason some human beings get them written off yet keep the vehicle then get it repaired at a nook storage at a actual looking fee. In a topic like this maximum will agree and assist you keep the vehicle and they deduct £one hundred scrap fee. So it's going to be recorded as written off on the V5 and insurance historic previous which will practice even as some one tries to Insure it. in my opinion i might want to purchase on condition that I meant to do the minimum required by a good nook storage and run till I scrapped it. and that i does not pay more suitable than £3,000 for it. A cat D will always be a cat D for the life of the vehicle and will affect the insurance quote if you can get a company who will cover you sometimes you can get one that will last you a while but i would steer clear if i were you.

Yes it keeps its own reg. No it wont get warranty work done. The retail value will be somewhere in the region of 40% less than a straight one even when sorted.

i would be very cautious of this vehicle,as cat d is for light damage so why would the insurance write it off as a cat d.
i presume you are unsure about this to be asking the question in which case keep your money in your pocket, there are plenty more cars out there
