My Norton ran out and my computer now has some sort of virus. I downloaded the Micro Trend virus scan and it scanned my comptuer all day. I have run it at least 4 times. Everytime I run it it finds something and I delete it. After it deletes it says that it is recommended that since something was found, that I rerun the scan. It just keeps finding different things. Should I keep running it? Why isn't it finding everything the first time? Is there something else better for me to use? I can't go get another Norton until after New Year's and this virus is causing crazy pop ups and I'm pretty sure it's recording my keystrokes which makes me nervous. Any thoughts? Help!!

If i turn off system restore, will I have to reinstall Internet Explorer/ Mozilla Firefox, etc? I have no files on this computer to worry about losing, just bookmarks saved on those programs. I will turn off the restore and give it a shot before doing the entire coptops program. Thank you!

I see this happen a lot when most of my customers don't turn off the System Restore Feature. Anti Virus scanners do not scan this portion of your computer disk.

Virus' often replicate and rename themselves, yet the same virus remains. Try turning off the system restore feature on your computer and run your scan. Restart your machine and see if this works.

I also recommend that you back anything of value to a CD/DVD or different computer.

I hope this helps, good luck : )

Try running Hijackthis.

Download HijackThis---http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php#hijackthis. Run and Save a Log. When you log comes up copy and paste the entire log at http://www.hijackthis.de/ . Analyze your results. You will then get a screen that will tell you if you have any nasty stuff in your computer. Follow instructions to deal with any nasties. CAUTION: This is a very powerful tool. Be careful.

depending on what it finds it may be neesary to run again if its a real bad mm or virus.
i would run it with norton turned off and see what it finds, and look up removal for them
