If i make a music video with a certain song from one of my CD's and put it on as a part of my movie in movie maker, and then post the music up on youtube. will it be illegal?

yes its called copyright infringement

to an extent, it would be different if you were being paid for the video..Thats what alot of people don't realize about copyright infringment..It has elements and all elements have to be met before getting prosecuted.

I would say no - as long as you put in the credits where the music came from
like they do in the movies

Technically speaking... yes. You are infringing the copyright of the artist of the song.

if you had not gained permission from the copyright holders of the track then it would be copyright infringment.

but who cares?
everybody does it and nobodys gotten in **** for it.
I'd think it'd be more publicity..
The only real problem you'd have is you were making money off that video with their music.
dont worry bout it.
