A good carpet installer could probably repair it if you can find a small piece of the same carpet.

it's their place so not sure if you can just hire a rug guy to replace it. check the lease. if it doesn't say you can't see if you can get it repaired. there are ways to cut the carpet and with a special glue and iron mend the carpet. another option is if the rug wasn't new when you moved in let them take you to court. argue that the rug would be due for replacement at the end of your lease anyways so you shouldn't have to pay the whole cost of it. you might not win but you would make your case and they'd have to make theirs. good luck with it.

I would have tried to replace some of the carpet before ever informing your complex. I'm not sure how much it would be for just one room. However, if you still go ahead and try to do that now, your apartment complex will charge you a fee anyways, I'm sure.

Find a carpet layer, ask about the possibility of taking a piece out of a closet and repairing the burned area with it. Then just replace the closet carpet. Bet he has some used pieces for that closet......

if its a popular style of carpet -- ask for a free estimate from a few low carpet stores in town. a good carpet installer may be able to replace a small section of the burnt carpeting.

Cigarette burns (or any burns, for that count) are actually not seen generic placed on and tear on carpeting. you're entitled to cost the tenants (upon vacating the premises) for alternative. in spite of the undeniable fact that, do no longer assume to be able to interchange all the carpeting in contact interior the unit. If the burns are constrained to a minimum of one room in basic terms, it is the room you're entitled to interchange and be reimbursed for. If the fee of the alternative exceeds the risk-free practices deposit, you're entitled to ask for (and bypass to courtroom over) the comprehensive fee of the carpeting alternative for the room in contact.
