Chevy does not have a fuel reset switch. Does the motor have spark, which it sounds like it does but checking it is always good. If the motor seems like it is going to start, you should install a fuel pressure guage on the fuel rail under the hood and check what the pressure is. These motors need around 55 psi to run so anything lower than that and it won't run. There is a possibility that the regulator is no good and allowing all the fuel back into the tank, but that is usually not the case. If the pressure is low, it is usually the fuel pump. This also will usually mean you will need a new fuel tank level sender as the nuts that have to be taken off when you remove the fuel tank are usually seized onto the sender pipes and will not come off without damaging the pipes. Good luck and I hope your tank is close to empty.

Chevy does not have a fuel cutoff switch, only Ford did this.
Try banging on the fuel tank with a soft mallett wile having someone crank the engine for you, if you have a fuel pump problem sometimes this will jar the pump loose but considder this a temporary fix.

If you ran into something hard enough to trip the fuel cut off switch, it's in the left kick panel in the cab, look for a hole, inside the hole will be a button, push it.

What you are describing sounds more like the anti theft device trying to keep it from being stolen. Does it have an alarm?

i own a '97 z71 and have read the manual thru and thru. sounds like a fuel pump. I had to replace mine after a few hard starts and then nothing.
open your drivers' side door , turn key to on pos(do not crank). listen for a humming sound (appx 3 sec) if you do not hear it, most likely fuel pump.

There is no fuel reset switch. It is probably a fuel pump problem.
