Not exactly ambidextrous but I am mostly right handed but there are some things I can only do with my left hand instead of my left (instead of being able to use either hand).
I don't imagine being ambidextrous would have much of an effect on how long it takes to be able to write

No, I am not, I am right-handed. But I do have some dexterity using both hands. I throw a ball with my left and can use my left hand for many tasks, including writing, if need be. True ambidextrous people are equally adept with each hand. It is very rare.

I'm not ambidextrous, but I can write my name in a few seconds more with my left hand. It's really messy though.

I am, I write with my right but I play and deal cards with my left. I do all the reaching with my left hand, why, I don't know. And everything I put on hangers faces opposite eveyone else's.

YES, always have been, and been able to use either hand for any task. equally well and with speed, but unfortunately now due to osteo-arthiritis and trapped nerves, right hand is the more dominant
