Definately at home with a midwife. It's my body, and my husband's and my child, not the hospital's! I don't want them trying to induce me if I don't go into labor the minute they think I should; I don't want them to do a cecerean for no good reason; so unless I have a high-risk pregnancy, I will stay at home with a midwife.

I would want to be at a hospital because I think I know too much about what could go wrong and would want to be there just in case. Also I would want an epidural.

But I know someone I went to nursing school with who had both her daughters at home. Most deliveries don't have complications and i would think the OB or M/w could determine ahead of time if you are a good candidate or too high risk.

The more I think about it the nicer i think a home birth would be. Even with a "birth plan" the hospital staff have a certain way they have to do things. Not having monitors, IVs, all the noise and people you don't know coming in and out would be great.

99% of patients get epidurals. So nurses aren't trained or practiced in being labor coaches like they were 10-20 years ago. I've seen some pretty amazing things done with self hypnosis but you would have to seek it out and practice ahead of time.

Have you ever heard of a Dulla (spelling?) You hire them and they are your coach and personal advocate at the hospital. I think it's a great idea that dads would also like. It would allow them to enjoy and be closer to you for the experience, without worrying about doing or saying the right things as a coach. Honestly, a few hours of Lamaze class can't prepare you like the training a Dulla must have. I think they can even come to your home after and help you with nursing and baby things.

Hospital. My first child would not be here if we had tried to have a home birth. You can probably have a midwife birth at the hospital. One other reason why not to have a home birth, who is going to clean up the mess? Birth is a wonderful, but not a clean experience

im having a hospital birth for this baby (30 weeks with first baby) but would consider for future births though i think i'll probably decide to stick to hospital (if this one goes ok)

my aunty is a midwife though and she says more and more people are deciding to have home births, she gave birth to all 6 of her children at home and said she would not have it any other way, though i guess she is more confident/comfortable with labour anyway being a midwife and all!

I would prefer a home birth if that were possible. BUT then again, what I would prefer and was was available is two different things. Where I live Birthing Centers just aren't available. Midwives aren't either. So I went to a regular OB who delivered my babies in a regular hospital. With one I had an epidural and with the other one I didn't.

At the hospital because a midwife is no doctor and something could go wrong and what is a midwive gonna do? Call 911 and the woman would be seen by a doctor anyhow.

I had a hospital with my first daughter at 42weeks after being induced and 2 days in labour i was taken 4 a emergency section. i believe if i had waited for labour 2 come on it would have been a normal birth away from hospital.
with my second doctor who i had august this year premature labour at 20weeks i had 2 go to the hospital but got sent to A&E that was terrible experience.
i am 14 weeks pregnant now and if i could and had the choice i would be having my babys at home in my own space and i would be far more relaxed i didnt have as much pain at home either.

hope that helps ?

Hospital, every time. Apart from the support, you get free food for a few days and you don't have to do anything else except lie in bed and read books until the baby needs feeding, so you don't feel guilty about not doing any housework.

The main driver for me, though, was that someone else clears up all the mess, which nobody tells you about before you give birth.

My generic care giver is a midwife who works at a prepare under OB's. yet i would be giving beginning interior the scientific institution. i've got been to the L&D floor there and its relatively effective. there is no person tied to a table or lighting fixtures furniture blinding your eyes. they have very mushy beds and the lighting fixtures is unquestionably low and the colors interior the rooms are extremely comforting. no person would be interior the room different than my midwife, a nurse, my husband and myself and that i think of its going to be a magnificent journey. and that i will have the convenience of understanding i'm in a scientific facility *IF* some thing happens to bypass incorrect. i do no longer seem down on everybody for desiring a house beginning yet i think of i visit be extra suitable than chuffed interior the scientific institution.
